Seeing a ton of comments about the “poor writing” without anything to support why. If your upset with the writing, we’d love to hear why. Could be a good topic of discussion.

It needed a bit build up but Danerys was always about burning cities to the ground. Whenever an unexpected enemy crossed path with her the first thing that came into her mind was "I will burn their cities to the ground", "We will lay waste to armies and return the cities to the dirt".
Before, she had Jorah, Ser Barristan, Missandei. Now she has nothing and she lost her dragons, half of her armies, and everyone who she once loved. What else would you expect from someone with such immense power and no one to love. And it all happened for that wretched city of King's landing and that ugly uncomfortable chair. She lost everything to that city and at last when she got it, when the city ringed the bells, she realises she lost all that for nothing. And she burned everything that cost her so much.

Nikki & Steven React I know it’s weeks later after the show but if u should hate someone it’s the two idiots writers what done this to her character

No she’s not mad she was grieving that’s what Emilia Clarke said

Anyway olenna told her to be a dragon yes it was a horrible move but blame the writers it was quick writing they rushed it cuz they wanted to start doing Star Wars
I mean come on they decided not to go to comic con maybe cuz they think they will get ripped apart lol

By the way I still love Daenerys U have to think of other characters on the show and what they have done and people still like them

it was rushed writing. Ending this series in 6 episodes was never going to work. There should of been another 2-3 seasons of 10 episodes to end everything. If you are happy with this ending you are an idiot shill soy boy.

The only issue with this episode was Cersei dying to rocks.
Dany snapping was completely foreshadowed and believable.

I feel no pity 4 Cersei! If she wanted 2 live Dany gave her plenty of chances 2 bend the knee! All she had 2 do was burn the Red Keep like she wanted 2 in S7.

This is all Dumb and Dumber who assassinated Dany's character! No foreshadowing at all, just that she had a gentle heart. Unless Bran warged into Drogon.

The North has been waiting 4 years 2 attack King's Landing ever since Ned Stark & the Red Wedding! Burn them all! Cersei had Wildfire put around the city.

"I'm shocked they did that." You and alllllllllll the rest of us. They spent seasons building her up as a savior, and then they did that to her? It's like D&D was like, "Ok, we're bored with this and want to move on. Let's do all the shock value stuff and also let's piss the fans off. Further, we're not going to tie up storylines that have been building for a decade."

I don’t think this was poor writing. It was always going to end this way. In my opinion, to make it better, they should have fleshed it out over a few more episodes. I wouldve loved to see her slowly descend into madness and experience a hero’s fall into villainy that rivaled Darth Vader. They had the potential for her to be one of the most iconic villains of all time but she was only evil for the ending of episode 5 and beginning of episode 6. Oh well, still a great show!

Cersei to Ned Stark : Jaime and I belong together. We were born together, and we'll die together.
Seven seasons later: Foreshadow in fruition.

To compare: Cersei was diabolical when trying to keep har reign. Daenarys flip mode and lost her shit after all those emotions flooded in. Targaryens are renowned for their hot temper.
Now madness has consumed her. She has become the thing she hated....a tyrant.

I really don't know what show you guys have been watching, but several times you have said Jamie has been a roller coaster, good bad good bad good bad, when this has never been the case at all. You guys have apparently missed his entire point of being. He was never bad, he did things out of love. He killed the mad king to save the lives of everyone in the city. He pushed Brandon out of the window for love, he killed his cousin and escaped out of love, he lost his hand because he was trying to save Breanne. He released his brother from jail because he loved him. He gave Lady O poison because he was compassionate. He fell in love with Breanne by the of the last episode, he left her to go to kings landing because he felt he was the only one that had a chance of stopping Cersy and saving peoples lives in the city AGAIN. He said mean things about himself to Breanne to try and save her feelings. He didn't want her to think it was her fault he was leaving. Jamie has always know that Cersei and he came into the world together and would leave the world together. He had her focus on him in the last seconds because he still cared for her, and you don't simply stop have any feelings for someone you loved your entire life. He didn't want her to be scared. He wanted her to feel safe. The way he had always tried to protect her in the past just one last time.
Point is Jamie has never been bad/evil, he has always done things for others out of a sense of love and duty.

Greg Ward Greg Ward oh I see it... I just think your argument of doing something out of love being an acceptable reason to be bad doesn’t land. Jamie is actually a far more complicated character than you give him credit for. He suffers from addiction. Regardless of intent, he’s done bad and he’s done good but end of the day he was always ment to go back to his twin sister. His arc want ment to end with her. Still didn’t really answer my question but that’s ok. Not sure how bringing a country’s financial decisions to hurt others fits into your love theory. Just because people cheer or the intent is out of love doesn’t make the actions ok if innocence people suffer.

@Nikki & Steven React he did that for love, AND his story arc completely changed from that point on, that push provided a reference of where he started his journey from to what he becomes. You not being able to see this is mind-blowing.
As for your question, yes. American does it every day. They have been killing 100k of people all over the world for the sake of corporate greed, yet America claps and cheers on their soldiers every single day for it "Thank you for your service".

answering a question with a question... cool!! In the first episode of the entire show he threw a child out of a window, regardless of reason or outcome, that makes him a bad person. And I ask again, I can go do a bunch of really horrible things but as long as my intent is positive, I won't be viewed as a bad person?

People forget Dragons are both beautiful and terrible. Olenna Tyrell once said to Dany: "BE a Dragon". And she was. We saw all the signs. This was also a reminder (said by Miguel Sapochnik) of how terrible war is. We always look at the leaders yet we forget about the victims, the innocents (thus, the emphasis on the people dying during the episode). I don't think this was poor writing at all. I think it was just a matter of time frame. Events these last 2 seasons happened so quickly that people didn't digest them very well (and people also wanted Dany to become a Disney Princess). If they want to wait for the books, wait for them then. The same thing will happen. Dany will burn King's Landing to the ground. George R. R. Martin said it. This is not a Disney movie people, this is GoT. A 'fantasy' novel brutally inspired by real history and real life.

Innocents? Well yeah but they’re not really smart if they believed that Cersei will give them protection. She would burn the city anyway why is no one understand ? Cersei thought that Dany won’t kill innocents and she will feel bad for people. But Dany smarter she remembered Missandey’s last word “Dracarys”
No matter who would burn the city. Wild fire-Cersei wins. Dragon fire-Daenerys wins
They show us children, women, poor people right? To show how Daenerys bad and how cruel she is. Everyone forgot how cruel Cersei. Only because they didn’t show how Cersei killing people by fire we forgot how hateful SHE IS. Showed how sad Cersei died how romantically we started feel bad for her and started hate Daenerys. Isn’t it an amazing trick? Seriously? Mostly fans are with Cersei and they choose her side. Really?
Daenerys actually killed what was already dead.

The many hundreds-of-thousands of innocent people in Kings Landing had no idea what was coming. You must understand that they didn't have the knowledge that you (the viewer) has from watching the entire series. All they knew was that a foreign invader was suddenly at the gates of their city, ready to slaughter them. They probably would not have been allowed to leave even if they thought it was safe to do so; and of course, they never deserved to be burned alive like that. Dany murdered more innocents in that single attack than all the people who Cersei and Jamie had killed in their entire lifetimes put together. Tyrion even states this in the following episode.
No...we the audience have not forgotten Cersei's terrible crimes. Yet, one of the most important aspects of Game Of Thrones is that--with very few exceptions--there is no character who is purely good or purely evil. Just those who are more or less one of the two. Some who are evil find redemption, and some who are good ultimately fall into evil...becoming even the most dangerous villains of all.

Way to completely destroy a very layered/complicated character like Daenerys and make her into a simple tyrant. I know she's lost everything she loves but come on dude! She always stuck up for children and innocents

Not true at all. The rushed pace and less-than-stellar writing of the last few seasons have upset many. But in truth, Dany's decline into madness and inevitable attack on everyone (including the innocent) in Kings Landing was what GRRM intended in his books. The series is meant to follow this much. And it could not have been a character arc built too obviously over many episodes without giving away the outcome of her attack on Kings Landing. It had to be something few would have predicted and that many would've doubted...just as it was. She had to snap.
Yet, we can see the telltale signs as early as season 1...particularly when she burned Mirri Maz Duur, the sorceress who used blood magic to save Drogo. There we began to see Dany's ruthless side and the beginning of her downfall. Mirri was right about Drogo too (which unfortunately also reflects Daenerys in the end). Drogo in fact got what he deserved, since he was little more than a savage who raped, murdered, and enslaved. His son would've been "the stallion who mounts the world"...meaning the world would've been his to rape and plunder. She understood this was the Dothraki way, especially after having experienced their brutality, seeing the heads of children in piles, her people murdered and raped, and her village burned. As Mirri said, "Now he will burn no cities. Now his khalasar will trample no nations into dust." After all this time, look at what Dany the khaleesi has ultimately done to Kings Landing.

The moment Dany burned Mirri was the moment in the series when I lost all respect and hope for her. From the end of this episode onward, she becomes increasingly vicious, vengeful, arrogant and hungry for the Iron Throne. Anyone who won't bend the knee, she burns while using her dragons to intimidate others. It's that alone which proves how unworthy she is of having total power. Season 8 episode 5 just sealed the deal

I'm so freaking angry and confused. How did she go from gradual insane conquer to a full blown genocide mad queen/dictator in less than an episode? I'm sorry but she needs to die, can't support her anymore.
I'm wondering if Jorah was alive, would he be able to convince her otherwise and backup Tyrion's plan? I think she only trusted him and she always respected his advice whereas she kept contradicting her other advisers.
I think in her mind, she just thinks everyone is out to get her because no one likes her and the people she "trusts" are also friends with her rivals.Jorah was the only familiar face and I think his and Missandei's death triggered her to go down that path.
Anyways, I knew this sort of thing would happen but not this quickly, it's like they rushed it. I think the directors went the easy route and made Dany to appear the next villain in order to get another person to rule Iron Throne and people will cheer for that person.
I still really wished they committed to two more seasons. I heard George R.R. Martin even wanted to have 10-13 seasons but the GOT directors wanted it to end, which explains why everything felt rushed.

I kinda feel like in the way the writing was she never actually went mad she just turned into a dictator. It's my biggest gripe with this it's not enough to say she's not eating and look messy and take a character who has valued life and championed the disenfranchised and made a huge effort to free slaves to burn down a whole city of Innocent people in a snap decision. If she had a mental break she should have come to regret it in that case after she recovered but it's like her whole outlook suddenly changed.

How we all felt, "NO! DANERYS!"

Jamie: He started off a boy who lost a mother, manipulated by his sister from day one, looking out for his family, blindly following his father. Who was arguably just as mad as the king he served. He wound up the same...doing what always FELT right in the moment, remember what he said, "He did it all for his family and would do it again." And he did. "Villains are all the heroes of their own side." His arc got ruined, but life isn't ever a neat, little tiny arc. Life is always full of ups and downs, sweet moments, great moments, terrible moments. We humans are so, so much more than that. No one represented this better than Jamie, but honestly they all did.

So I'm going to say the same thing that I've said in various Game of thrones groups I'm in. HBO was the one who decided to end it after season 8. They gave the writers an impossible job. They had too many storylines going on too many characters too much character development too many plots going on for the writers to be able to successfully tie stuff together in 1 6 episode season. I honestly feel sorry for the writers because of all the hate they're catching. It is not their fault it is 100% HBO's

Cersei only proved to herself & the people that this new-wannabe-queen is no different from her & even worse. But I love Daenerys’ no bullshit move. She was provoked & merciless at this point. She gave Cersei a chance. But Cersei was stubborn up to the very end. It was like Daeny was saying: “If I don’t sit on the iron throne, then nobody else will!” I actually love how this ended. Destroy the iron throne and the sinful corrupted city it was built upon! And I love the ending with Arya. Symbolic as ‘Death rides the pale horse’ it was..
