Getting really close to finding out the ending for all the Game of Thrones characters now. Can't wait to see how things go down in episode 5 tonight.

Maybe she was always mad, but stayed cool when everybody adored her and praised her for the things she did, and everyone told her the people would be cheering for her arrival in Westeros. Now if she helped kill the night king, she would truly be a legend. But what she got was Jon taking all the praise. Probably she got mad because no one loved her, she always cries about this in some episodes. She just stayed a little girl, and wants the attention her brother always got as a child.

Too much watcher head cannon for me. I like that she has to die but not the lack of storytelling in the show.

"I will crucify the Masters, set their fleets afire, kill every last one of their soldiers, and return their cities to the dirt."

That's all the, "foreshadowing," anyone should require lol had Tyrion not been there to counsel restraint, she would have been called the, "Mad Queen," by the end of Season 6.

(BTW; That image at 6:30 is AWESOME!👍)

Ah, because Sansa making dogs eating a man alive is ok? Or because Arya killing all the Frey is ok? Or Brienne killing Stannis for a crime commited by Melisandre? Or Jon decapiting a soldier for desobying? Or Jaime killing an 8 years old?
Daenerys isn't worse than anyone else.

I don't understand what people are whining about.
There have NEVER been purely, "good," or, "evil," characters in Game of Thrones.

Daenerys has just as much potential for malevolence inside her as she does benevolence.

Seven Seasons of holding back has lost her almost all of the advantages she's worked so hard to gain, and EVERYONE has their breaking point.

Daenerys sailed to Westeros from Meereen at the absolute height of her power, and she STILL hasn't accomplished her ONE primary goal because she's been, "held back," constantly by her, "loyal advisors," one of whom just HAPPENS to be the brother of her greatest enemy.

She has been steadily losing, despite arriving with an Army of Unsullied, a Horde of Dothraki Screamers, Allies in Dorne, the Iron Islands and the Reach, and three full grown Dragons.

By any measure, she should have already taken the Iron Throne from Cersei, which she no doubt would have, had she not been, "held back," primarily by Tyrion, who did an excellent job keeping her at a perpetual disadvantage.

Tywin did the same thing to King Robb, he won the War despite losing every battle by just letting the, "honorable," Stark forces destroy themselves from within.

And now, when Daenerys has lost her best friend, over half of her Dothraki and Unsullied, and two of her three Dragons, people want to complain, calling her a, "Mad Queen," lol when she FINALLY says, "F*** it!"?!

Cersei was smug in her confident arrogance because she was willing to do horrible things that she KNEW Daenerys wasn't, because her brother, Tyrion assured her he could, "check her worst impulses."

And, in the end Cersei didn't lose until Daenerys FINALLY overcame her inhibitions and burned King's Landing down to the foundation stones, which was LONG overdue.

Daenerys has been, "playing nice," the entire time and it has cost her almost EVERYTHING. Nobody should be the least bit surprised that she, of all people, has a breaking point just like anyone else.

"The human heart in conflict with itself," means that there ARE NO, "good guys," or, "bad guys," in this world. Every character has the potential to be either or both equally.

Besides, it's not as if Jon's Northern Armies weren't doing their share of raping and murdering in episode 5, either!
Jon may not have agreed with their behavior, but there's a Beast in EVERY Man, and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand!

If you're disappointed now, it's because your expectations were unrealistically lofty, because Game of Thrones is NOTHING if not a story about the complexities of the human struggle for power, and it has NEVER pretended to be anything else.

If watching the show has conditioned you to believe that one of the, "good guys," is incapable of being forced to act like one of the, "bad guys," under extenuating circumstances lol or vice versa, then you have CLEARLY missed the whole point!

If Dany ever had great intentions and I believe she did, they have always been overshadowed by her ruthless impulsivity (burning up those who don’t take a knee) She’s been subtly, but visibly slipping into the madness that allowed for these irredeemable acts

Dany intentions was always to burn enemy houses to ground from season 1 as her first mention of burning cities came when she said to Khal drogo then again in meeran or in astraphor she said to her maid that when her Dragon will grow larger then she will take her family home by burning cities then again in season 7 episode 4 after losing her allies she decided to take her 3 dragons to burn KL but that time it was Jon who stopped her so it always her advisor who stopped her or kept her impulse in check but in last episode after getting betrayed by everyone including her advisor and Jon she decided to do what's she always said to take whatever her by fire and blood 😅

Dany has been placed in huge grief, and despair and all she has lost.
She is faced by all the supporters of the Starks, watch her when Theon comes back and Sansa goes to Theons arms.
                Its pure family.
She is an outsider and she has lost so much since her first dragon was killed by the Night King.
                Loss,loss,loss. Death. Treason,Its been constant.

I have always loved a good love story, so I wanted Jon and Dany to end up together. Although, I didn't like the way the writers went with the story line, I do think the writers were brilliant as seen by the battle of Winterfell and the burning of King's Landing. Also, Emilia Clark's acting was excellent. I feel the last season needs more episodes to explore John in his new role. I also would have liked Jamie killing Cersie and Theon killing Euron. I do feel as if they are rushing the ending. This series could have gone on instead of ending, making everyone a lot of money.

Well.....I’m a big fan of Danny, and VERY surprised at how she’s decimated Kings Landing. What happened to her former humanity? Which I always felt made for an exceptional ruler, and how she always lamented over any killing of the innocents. Does it now go back to “absolute power corrupts absolutely?” I made a comment not too long ago that Tyrion was going to sit on the throne......if there is one, and maybe that’s not so far fetched after all....hmmm. I don’t know about Jon anymore, except that he never wanted it. If Danny does sit on it, who’s left to rule? She’ll sit atop a human garbage/rubble pile that will take forever to rebuild. I know, no one will sit there anymore and the North will become the replacement empire where Jon will sit and Danny will fly off somewhere on her dragon.......end.

Cersei lost all of her three children. She felt betrayed and abandoned. Feared she would lose everything. Had a lot of fight in her, and made a lot of mistakes. She even burned some of the people who had wronged her in spectacular fashion. And like Daenerys (who is clearly shown killing Drogo) killing her own husband, the King, started Cersei on the path that put her on the iron throne.

Had she been presented in a more flattering light, you would all be licking her butt, but it was suggested you should hate her. And so you hate her.

Daenerys is a warmonger, and somehow everyone equates that with goodness. It was suggested you should like her, so you do.

I just want to point out that Cersei was bringing everyone inside the walls of kings Landing so they can act as a human shield if they stayed outside of the walls they wouldn’t have died
Cersei was basically booking their death by bringing them inside the walls just saying

What a sad turn of events for our Dany.
If we must lose Dany (perhaps by the hands of Jon) then I doubt Jon will take the throne. He would make a great, albeit, reluctant ruler but I don’t think he’ll want it, especially if it’s after he must kill Dany.
I honestly think Tyrion would make the best ruler.
He’s intelligent, cares for people and can check himself when necessary.

Love the idea that the Throne itself is the problem. Davos said something in Episode 4 about it being wonderful if Westeros were one day ruled by a good man and a just woman. Maybe a devolution is about to take place? North-exit with Jon in charge. South-exit with Dany at the helm. Sansa, Davos and Tyrian as members of Parliament? I jest a bit, but, maybe??? After all, there is no seat of government in King´s Landing anymore, it has all been destroyed. The Capital needs to move logistically, at least for some time.

I think the real villain will be Bran, especially because he’s all emotionless and has been since the episode after the one where Hodor died.

It’s shame she got dragged into saving people who destroyed her family and I know king ares was mad, but what about rhaegar, he was the heir. Instead Ned supported Roberts claim and married in a the Lannisters.

Cersei's death: She believed she was invincible, safe in her castle, with thousands of people behind her. In the end, she was abandoned, had to witness her own demise, and in the end got crushed by the very thing she thought would protect her.

Jaime: He only ever loved Cersei, and they died together in each other's arms.

Tyrion: Despite everything Cersei had done to him, he absolutely loved his brother and wanted him to be happy, which meant being with Cersei, and arranged for their escape.

Arya: She had trained to be an assassin and revenge was poisoning her soul. Had she really become a killer-psychopath without return or redemption? As we saw in this episode, clearly not, and that's good. Still, maybe her change of heart felt a little sudden.

Daenerys: Throughout the seasons she only ever had the desire to destroy and burn her enemies, and time and time again was held back from doing so, not always successfully, by her advisors - to rule differently to her father. At this point she lost absolutely everthing, every single person close to her has either died or betrayed her, especially those for whom she sacrificed everything she had. No wonder she thought f*ck it, and went crazy. Do I sympathize with her killing innocent people? No! But I'm no Targaryen.

Would I have liked to have seen the Golden Company's fighting abilites? Sure. Would I have liked to have seen a more satisfying Dorne/Martell ending? Yes. I could write a whole list here, but what for. I've got no time to be bitter.

                                                                              • John Shiffler

Season 8 seems almost created to tear down her impressive story arc so was unhappily starting to expect the mad queen situation but after seeing part of episode 5 think it wasn't just abrupt but done stupidly.

If she is surging with rage then go right at someone she wants revenge on (Cersei) and not waste time burning a city full of innocent people. If she isn't raging and it isn't part of an ends justifies the means way of winning then there is no reason to burn the city and everyone in it.

I think Clarkes acting and the visuals were impressive but not the plot post episode 5. Her going mad seems forced in a way like the reverse of plot armor.

I agree with you 110% they planted the seed, but this season did feel rushed, but this doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s great story writing none the less, but I suppose that the fans that invested a lot of emotional support for the character of Danny, they refused to see the groudwork that was laid out, despite it always being there. I’m loving it, and I’m excited to see how it will end! Also, my little theory is that Sansa was or is going to be instrumental in getting Danny killed or off the throne. My suspicion is that she tipped off Cersei and euron about Danny arriving to dragonstone, thus ensuring the ambush that ensued, in a bid to drive her into further alienation and grief, trying to get her to go over the ledge, thus forcing Jon to step and kill her and into position of claiming the throne. It’s a little out there, but I think this would be a great way to throw us in for a loop, while our attention was meant to stay within the Danny camp’s betrayals, perhaps Sansa did more than just tell Tyrion. She might have little fingered the game. Perhaps this will be the driving factor for Jon to step away from the starks, and leave the 7 kingdoms altogether, where presumably after killing Danny, finding out the truth of sansas betrayal, and stepping down from the throne. Maybe then the remainding lords will establish some parliament or congress of sort. Idk, but I’m excited to see how they end it!!!

Planted the possibility does not mean have to take it. I would actually think less of Sansa if Sansa tried to ambush Dany as Sansa knows better than most the only way Jon and Sansa make it out alive is if Cersei is off the iron throne. Any Dany was the main way of making that happen. Anything else and Sansa probably knew it was only a matter of time before a Lannister army came for Sansa herself.

Also I thought Sansa was just being stupid when she first interacted with Dany. Sansa's life has already been saved by people she didn't know that well and she treats Dany with disrespect the very day Dany shows up to help with the undead. This is Sansa treating a stranger as badly before even bothering to find out about her.
